Diesel Exhaust Scrubber Systems

During engine operation a number of harmful pollutants are produced in various quantities in the combustion chambers of every diesel engine. Diesel exhaust typically contains the following harmful pollutants such as: Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC) and Particulate Matter (PM). These pollutants will cause irritated eyes, nose and throat, headaches, drowsiness, loss of consciousness and possible death.

Our diesel exhaust purifier scrubbers will help equipment operators comply with CARB, CAL OSHA, EPA, MOL, RICE NESHAP and OSHA regulations by effectively reducing dangerous concentrations of harmful Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC) and Particulate Matter (PM) exhaust pollutants by up to 90%+.

The diesel exhaust purifier scrubber is specifically designed for any off-road mining, tunneling and construction equipment. With leading edge catalyst technology we are able to improve workplace health and safety in providing the lowest emissions levels to comply with your local regulations.

For our customers convenience we offer three different options to install a diesel exhaust purifier scrubber:

  1. Exhaust Purifier Scrubber Muffler:
The diesel exhaust purifier scrubber muffler is a "direct fit" replacement for your original equipment manufactured muffler. To install a diesel exhaust purifier scrubber muffler remove the stock original equipment muffler and install the diesel scrubber muffler directly in place. We will require your equipment make, model, machine serial number and the stock muffler part number when you place a purchase order. We keep a wide variety of diesel exhaust purifier mufflers in stock for models such as Bobcat, Caterpillar, John Deere, JLG, Takeuchi and more! For additional information click here.

  2. Clamp-On Purifier Scrubber (P-Model) or (F-Model):
The P-Model (plain style) clamp-on style diesel exhaust purifier scrubber is a fully welded purifier unit designed to be installed in line in the engine exhaust system before or after the original equipment muffler. The F-Model (clamped style) purifiers are similar to the plain style exhaust purifiers in which they are an inline add-on unit that can be attached to any engine. The clamped style model incorporates quick release V-band clamps with gaskets to allow easy removal of the catalytic core. Normally we recommend that you install the P-Model or F-Model purifier scrubber as close to the engine exhaust manifold outlet or turbocharger outlet as possible. The clamp-on style purifier scrubber requires exhaust heat energy to function properly therefore the closer you are to the engine exhaust manifold outlet or turbocharger outlet the better the diesel exhaust purifier scrubber will perform. We will require your exhaust pipe outside diameter (O.D.) when you place a purchase order. All of our clamp-on style diesel exhaust scrubbers are in stock and can be shipped out same day. For additional information click here.

  3. OEM Muffler Modification:
The OEM exhaust purifier muffler modification is an internal modification of the stock OEM muffler. Simply remove the stock OEM muffler and ship the muffler to our plant location. A diesel exhaust scrubber will be added to the muffler internally. The modification will not alter the outside dimensions of the stock OEM muffler. This option is quick and very affordable with minimal machine downtime. Once the OEM muffler arrives at our shop, we are able to modify it into an exhaust purifier muffler within 1 business day.

The diesel exhaust purifier scrubber core turns harmful pollutants into harmless gases:

Carbon Monoxide: 2CO + O2 2CO2
Hydrocarbons: HC + O2 CO2 + H2O
Aldehydes: HCHO + O2 CO2 + H2O

Our diesel exhaust purifier scrubber design features a unique “tortuous” flowpath catalytic core, incorporating a curved mixed flow cell design. This takes advantage of the physical properties of harmful pollutants, increasing contact with the catalytic core surface. In comparison straight flowpath diesel exhaust purifier scrubber designs allow a percentage of soluble organic particulate to flow through the catalytic core without contacting the catalyst.

Our diesel exhaust purifier scrubber design has a carefully distributed high quality coating of precious metals upon a uniform high porosity wash coat. The coating provides a longer reliable life and increases thermal durability of the catalyst, increasing functionality in the most adverse operating conditions. The high quality coating ensures a long and reliable operating life in the most adverse operating conditions.

Our diesel exhaust purifier scrubber core is made up of high strength, ultra thin metallic walls which reduce exhaust back pressure restriction to a minimum. Even under high load/speed engine operating conditions, the operating efficiency of the engine will not be affected.

Our diesel exhaust purifier scrubber incorporates several design features which result in excellent stability and reliability under extremely high temperatures and severe vibration. Thick foil retainer rings and folded catalytic edges improve overall structural rigidity.

Our diesel exhaust purifier scrubber core design will minimize the formation of accumulated particulate matter. The compact and efficient design of the diesel exhaust gas purifier allows for easy installation and service with minimal equipment downtime.

What is a diesel exhaust scrubber?

Pollutants in engine exhaust such as carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation, headaches, and drowsiness, as well as more severe consequences such as loss of consciousness. They can even be fatal.

A diesel scrubber is an air pollution control device designed to reduce these and other harmful engine exhaust emissions. These devices are used in commercial equipment such as construction and mining apparatus. Diesel exhaust scrubbers are often required to comply with various regulations including Cal/OSHA, CARB, EPA, and RICE NESHAP.

There are several different types of exhaust scrubbers available. A diesel scrubber muffler will replace your existing muffler, whereas a clamp-on diesel scrubber can be installed in the exhaust system before or after the muffler. Some existing mufflers can be modified to have a diesel exhaust scrubber added internally.

What chemicals are in diesel exhaust?

The major components associated with diesel engine exhaust emissions are carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, particulate matter (essentially dust), and sulfur dioxide. There are also minor components such as acrolein, benzene, and formaldehyde.

The diesel scrubber contains precious metals which act as catalysts to help turn harmful pollutants into less dangerous substances.

How effective are exhaust scrubbers?

Depending on your location, regulations may require that you stay below specified emission levels for select pollutants. A diesel exhaust air scrubber can help you comply with such regulations.

Exhaust scrubbers for diesel engines are highly effective at reducing the concentrations of harmful exhaust pollutants. They can reduce the levels of carbon monoxide by as much as 90 percent, sometimes even more. Hydrocarbon levels can be reduced by around 80 percent and aldehyde levels by 85 percent.

What’s more, diesel exhaust scrubbers can impact the amount of particulate matter in engine exhaust, offering reductions of up to 30 percent. Some models are also effective against nitrogen dioxide, impacting the level by more than 25 percent.

What are diesel exhaust system components?

Diesel exhaust systems are made up of two main sections, often called the “cold end” and “hot end.” The cold end refers to the part of the exhaust system that comprises the mufflers (which reduce engine noise) and tailpipes.

The hot end refers to after treatment devices and accompanying piping. Aftertreatment devices reduce pollutant emissions and include diesel exhaust scrubbers, catalytic converters, and Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs).

Finally, you have decoupling elements which are flexible hoses or pipes that absorb engine vibration and thermal expansion. These connect the exhaust system to the engine.

Are there the exhaust scrubbers for small engines?

Yes, diesel exhaust scrubbers come in multiple sizes. The scrubber you need will depend on several factors including the make and model of your machine, the make, model, type, and horsepower of the engine, and the size of the outside diameter of the pipe.
