Traditionally CAL/OSHA has had less tolerance for dangerous pollutants, often setting future standards for OSHA. CAL/OSHA makes private sector employers responsible for providing a safe and healthy workplace.

Restrictions / Exposure Limits:

CAL/OSHA sets Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL)

CO – 25 ppmv, 8 hour time weighted average
CO2 – 5000 ppmv, 8 hour time weighted average
HCHO – 0.75 ppmv, 8 hour time weighted average
NO – 25 ppmv, 8 hour time weighted average
NO2 – 1 ppmv, STEL (Short term exposure limit)
SO2 – 2 ppmv, 8 hour time weighted average
