Summary:
The MOL’s mission is to “advance safe, fair and harmonious workplace practices that are essential to the social and economic well-being of the people of Ontario”. The MOL ensures compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act which includes measuring appropriate toxin levels within the workplace. The provinces and territories across Canada have similar ministries, listed at the bottom of this page.
Restrictions / Exposure Limits:
The MOL adopts Time-Weighted Average limits (TWA)
CO – 25 ppm, 8 hour time weighted average
CO2 – 5000 ppm, 8 hour time weighted average
NO – 25 ppm, 8 hour time weighted average
NO2 – 3 ppm, 8 hour time weighted average
HCHO – 1 ppm STEL (short term exposure limit)
SO2 – 2 ppm or 5.2 mg/m³ , 8 hour time weighted average
